Counselor Certification Process:
All of our counselors are certified through the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). In order to gain certification, our counselors are required to pass six NFCC certification exams that measure experience and tests the counselor’s knowledge of credit and financial counseling. These exams cover Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, Spending Plans and Budgeting, Credit and Borrowing, Debt Management and Bankruptcy, Challenging Issues (key life events, unemployment, underemployment, divorce, child support, etc.), Counseling Principles and Processes (crisis intervention, communication, diagnosing problems and understanding client values).
In addition to gaining their certification, our counselors are also required to maintain their certification. This is achieved through counseling, providing community relations, participating in education programs, completing additional NFCC certification modules, teaching relevant financial topics and/or participating in the training of a new counselor.

We are the same reputable and trusted non-profit credit counseling agency that has been helping people with their debt for over 49 years. Advantage CCS is still Pennsylvania’s largest consumer credit counseling agency.
Founded in 1968, Advantage CCS is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with multiple office locations across the state. We are a non-profit credit counseling agency that is approved and licensed. We are proud members of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) and accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA).
